Quarter Notes

We have been learning about quarter notes this week in Music class.
We practiced drawing them yesterday.
There were so many students who did a great job with this. It was hard for me to choose one from each grade level to show excellent student work.

September Update

Good Morning!

August flew by and we are into September now. The students are doing a great job acclimating to their schedules and getting used to life at Archway Lincoln. It has been so fun watching their excitement and eagerness to learn. This month in  Music Class we have been:

  •  Practicing our four different voices (Singing, Speaking, Whispering and Thinking). I'm sure if you ask them to demonstrate them for you they will gladly oblige.
  • Singing Solfege patterns with hand signs (Sol, Mi, and Do)
  • Song of the Month- "You're a Grand Old Flag"
  • Speaking rhythms using "Ta" and "Ti-Ti" and echoing rhythms with body percussion (clap, pat, stomp, etc.)
  • Keeping a steady beat with our bodies or percussion instruments
  • Starting to learn our concert repertoire
  • Learning the Musical Alphabet (A-G) and their corresponding position on the keyboard
  • Listening to various great works of music for the tempo (speed of the music) and the melodic contour (shape of the melody)
  • Working hard to do our best in music class so that our friend Oliver can come out and sing hello. :)
