Image result for congratulations!

Congrats on a job well done!! This year's Fall Concert was a success!
I am so proud of all the students. They were really able to show off their hard work.
Thank you for your support of this great event. I know it was a late night for many of us. I appreciate your respect of all the performers to stay till the end of the concert.
The students had a blast and I have heard many wonderful things from them as we discussed it in class Friday and today. A special thank you to the PSO families who helped with the set pieces and all the odds and ends that came together to make this night beautiful.

A DVD of the concert is available for purchase here:   http://www.store.estheticsinmotion.com

Also, thank you for your generosity during the food and book drive. I know that our students are learning how to be good citizens through your example.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Music Listening at Home

Kindergarten:

Today we heard a modified story of Peer Gynt with music composed by Edvard Grieg.

The students listened for ways that the music connected to the story.
I also gave them a coloring sheet of the the characters so that they can listen to it again and use the characters to recreate the story.

The story opens up with "Morning" which the students are familiar with.

As the story progresses, the main characters find themselves in a cave surrounded by trolls and the Mountain King. The music from "In the Hall of the Mountain King" gets louder and faster as the adventure comes to its' climax. The story concludes with  "Morning" again as the main characters find their way through the forest and back home.

Here are links to the music:

1st and 2nd:

We have been learning about Mr. Vivaldi this month.
We had a lot of fun acting out the story behind the music of "Spring" from The Four Seasons. The students were able to identify 4 characters in "Spring": the happy people, the birds, the stream, and the thunderstorm.
You can listen to it again here:

Music Listening At Home: Kindergarten

In Kindergarten we have been learning about lullabys.
Today we listened to Brahm's Lullaby while pretending to slowly fall asleep.
We had a little extra time today and we were able to re-listen to another one of our favorites, Grieg's Morning.
