Music Listening At Home: Kindergarten

In Kindergarten we have been learning about lullabys.
Today we listened to Brahm's Lullaby while pretending to slowly fall asleep.
We had a little extra time today and we were able to re-listen to another one of our favorites, Grieg's Morning.

Music Listening At Home

At the end of each week, we spend time listening and learning about beautiful music written by the great composers. I have mentioned to a few classes that I will post the pieces on my blog so that they can share them with you at home.

Here are the selections from this week:

We listened to the William Tell Overture and imagined we were riding our horses through a wide open plain of green grass. The students even named their horses and knew what color they were. We practiced silently riding our horses so that we could still hear the music. We got very good at using our thinking voices even when we wanted to shout and yell because we were so excited. I'm sure they will love to show you this.

We have started learning about our September composer of the month, Mr. Handel.
Today we listened to part of his Water Music Suite. There is a great story behind why Mr. Handel wrote this piece. The students can tell you all about that magical boat ride down the Thames.
